Friday, October 13, 9:45  European Folk Dance Movement taught by Ixchel Levendosky

European folk dance traditions have a rich history and come from many different regions within the continent.  Classical ballets such as Swan Lake include such traditional-style dances within the ballet itself, for example the Hungarian Czardas.  European folk dance movements also form the basis from which many classical ballet steps are derived, for example the Pas de Basque, or step of the Basque people.  During this class, students will learn some of the folk dance movements that ballet has borrowed and we will put together a short dance by the end of the class.  No prior ballet or dance experience is needed!
